K2 Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Islamabad (540m)

Upon your arrival at Islamabad, our company representative will be waiting to warmly greet you and facilitate your transfer to the hotel. The afternoon will be dedicated to exploring Islamabad and Rawalpindi, offering glimpses of bustling markets and local culture. A delightful dinner at a nearby restaurant awaits before returning to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 2Islamabad to Skardu (2228m)

Today, an exciting flight takes us to Skardu, a scenic paradise. On landing, we’ll arrange your transfer to the hotel. The afternoon allows for exploration of the captivating city of Skardu, with its vibrant markets and cultural spots. Enjoy the evening in leisure, soaking in the beauty and charm of the surroundings. Rest up for the upcoming adventures with an overnight stay at the hotel.

Note:

In the event of unfavorable weather conditions causing flight cancellation, an alternate route via the Karakoram Highway to Chilas will be taken. This drive spans approximately 12-13 hours and covers 461 km from Islamabad to Chilas, where accommodations for an overnight stay will be arranged.

Day 3Chilas to Skardu - City Tour

Following a hearty breakfast, our day begins with an exploration of Skardu. Alternatively, a visit to the serene Sadpara Lake might be on the agenda, complemented by lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon invites you to indulge in further city explorations or relaxation, allowing time to soak in the beauty and experiences. Wind down in the evening with a delicious dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4Skardu to Jula (3200m)

Following breakfast, brace yourself for an exhilarating 4WD jeep adventure to Jula, an enthralling journey lasting about 7-8 hours from Skardu. En route, we’ll pause briefly at the captivating Shigar Valley, renowned for its apricot orchards and stunning aquamarine gemstones. Lunch will be a delightful part of the journey. As the day winds down, a fulfilling dinner awaits, and we’ll spend the night camping under the star-studded sky.

Day 5ula to Paiju (3785m)

Today, after breakfast, our trek toward Paiju commences, revealing nature’s wonder with views of the Baltoro moraines. Traverse distinct rock formations and face a substantial Screec before your final ascent, rewarding you with awe-inspiring vistas of the Baltoro Cathedrals. This trek spans around 5-7 hours. Indulge in a hearty dinner and retire to tents for an overnight stay.

Day 6Paiju to Urdukas (4240m)

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the camp before embarking on a trek towards Urdukas. The trail alternates between the Glacier and the lower slopes of the Urdukas peaks, offering captivating vistas of Paiju Peak, Choricho Peak, the Great Trango Tower, and Uli Biaho. This trek lasts around 5-7 hours. In the afternoon, take time to explore the picturesque Urdukas campsite before relishing dinner and retiring to your tents for the night.

Day 7Urdukas to Goro (4500m)

Today marks the most extensive and demanding phase of the trek, navigating through the challenging terrain of the Baltoro Glacier. As you depart from the grassy banks, the journey continues atop the Baltoro Glacier, offering an astounding vista of towering peaks like Gasherbrum IV, Massive Masharburm, Biarchedi, and the graceful Muztagh Towers. This leg of the trek spans approximately 6-7 hours, culminating in dinner and an overnight stay within the comforting confines of the tents.

Day 8Goro to Concordia (4700m)

This stretch of the trek is relatively shorter and less strenuous than the prior day’s journey. It guides you to the renowned cirque of the Karakoram, where the Godwin Austen glacier converges with the Baltoro from the north. Concordia boasts captivating views of K-2, Broad Peak, Chogolisia, the Golden Throne, and the slender Mitre Peak. The trek duration is around 3-4 hours, ending with dinner and an overnight stay in the tents.

Day 9Excursion to K-2 Base Camp (5135m)

Get ready for the ultimate trek to the Base Camp of K-2, the world’s second-highest peak. Delight in lunch along the way or at Base Camp itself, nestled at an elevation of nearly 5,135m. Subsequently, return to Concordia for dinner and spend the night in the comfortable tents.

Day 10Concordia to Goro-II

Following breakfast, our return trek to Goro II begins. Since you’re acclimatized and in better physical condition, the journey back will be quicker. However, it’s still a considerable trek, spanning about 3-4 hours. Dinner and overnight accommodation in tents await.

Day 11Goro II to Urdukas

After a satisfying breakfast at the camp, we descend to Urdukas, treating you to stunning vistas along the way. This trek lasts roughly 6-7 hours from Goro II to Urdukas. Enjoy a hearty dinner and spend the night in the tents.

Day 12Urdukas to Paiju

Today marks the final day of glacier walking as we make our way back to Paiju. The trek covers approximately 6-7 hours. Indulge in dinner and settle in for an overnight stay in the tents.

Day 13Trek from Paiju to Jhula

Following breakfast, we embark on a trek towards Jhula, covering a distance of approximately 6-7 hours until we reach the Jhula campsite. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 14hula to Skardu

We return to Skardu from Askole, approximately a 6-7 hour journey. Upon arrival, we transfer you to the hotel. After freshening up, explore the local market and savor dinner at a nearby restaurant before retiring for the night at the hotel.

Day 15Skardu to Islamabad/Chilas

Post breakfast, we arrange transportation to the airport for your flight to Islamabad. Please note, flights to Skardu and Gilgit may be affected by weather conditions. If weather permits, we’ll fly to Islamabad and transfer you to the hotel upon arrival. You’ll have the afternoon free for shopping or sightseeing. All meals and overnight accommodation will be provided at the hotel.

If flights are canceled due to inclement weather, we’ll opt for a 10-11 hour road journey to Chilas, where all meals and overnight accommodation will be arranged.

Day 16Chilas to Islamabad

This day is open for exploration or a visit to Islamabad’s vibrant markets. If traveling by road, we’ll return to Islamabad via the Karakoram Highway, an 11-12 hour drive. Lunch will be served at Besham along the way. On arrival in Islamabad, we’ll transfer you to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 17Departure
